After Peloponnesian War

  • After Spartan victory, he played a big part in replacing democratic governments throughout Greece with oligarchies under the control of Spartan governers
  • In Sparta, he had plans for overthrowing the hereditary kingship and substituting it with elective monarchy
  • But these plans were cut short by the war that broke out with Thebes
    • He was slain while invading Boeatia
